For Sale: 1969 Harley-Davidson Motorcycle in Catskill, New York for sale in Catskill, NY
Vehicle Description 1969 Harley Davidson Iron Head custom Chopper The family tells me that their Dad purchased this bike in the early 2000's when he was getting back into bikes pretty seriously.
They think he bought it from the estate of a friend and fellow local biker who had the bike professionally built and painted back in 1976.
It is original to that time and wears the patina of the years and the 29,000 miles on the odometer.
The family also tells me that before he passed, their Dad was thinking of donating the bike to a local bike museum.
They don't remember him riding it often but it was started and ridden at least a couple of times a year.
The frame has had work done and as such does not have the VIN stamped on the frame any longer, the engine does have it's ID stamped, identifying it as a 1969 XLCH 883 Sportster engine.
It is unknown if any work was done to the engine when the bike was built in 76.
The bike is running an extended springer front end (Dureee Enterprises), coil sprung rear, sissy bar, bi level seat, oil pressure gauge, HD tach and speedo, Hurst/Airheart hydraulic front disc brake, direct rod rear drum, 4 speed transmission.
The gas tank was drained before going into storage a couple years ago before their dad passed away, however, the engine cranks over easily.
I'm not a bike guy so there may be things I'm a little off on.
Unfortunately, the family doesn't know a lot about it either.
It IS a piece of American motorcycle history though and should be cared for as such.
Ridden and enjoyed definitely, although I would imagine she'd have her place in a motorcycle museum/display as their dad had thought of doing.
Asking price on this bit of history is $12,000.
